The Witches Revival

The Witches Revival

CALLING THE WITCHES!

We invite you to a magical weekend of healing and celebration

in remembrance of the Pendle Witches on the anniversary

of the Lancaster Witch Trials of 1612

17-20 August 2023 at The Storey, Lancaster

Picture the scene, if you dare; the year is 1612 and hysteria tears
Through the land of Lancaster county.
In the castle of England’s “hanging town” 18 stand trial for witchcraft; 10 are sent down,
And carted up to Gallows Hill on the day of August 20.
The maddening crowd of old and young, jeer and cheer the Witches hung,
And raise a beer to the riddance of evil that dwelled in both poor and gentry.
They did not know the tragic cost of traditions tossed, blame them not for all we lost,
Their harrowed lives rooted in pure survival.
So let’s gather now, to heal and relearn, as our hearts yearn to reclaim and return,
To all we forgot, and awaken the Witches’ Revival!

Come join us as we pour love and wisdom into the collective cauldron and create magic and medicine to heal and reclaim what we’ve lost through the passages of time.

Over 4000 women were persecuted as witches in Britain during the 16th and 17th centuries and 15 generations of our ancestors affected by the violence and brutality of witch hunt hysteria. 300 years on we continue to carry the generational trauma and the wounds of separation that trauma brings about.  Survival patterns have become our default way of being, disconnecting us from our innate wisdom and power.

We want to help change that so we’re offering a heart-centred space designed to enable the healing we need to step more fully into our authentic selves through ancestral connection, inner journeying, creative collaborations and sisterhood.

We will reclaim the lost parts of ourselves through an experiential exhibition, transformational workshops, inspiring talks, inner work, live performances, a Witches’ Emporium and a whole day of collective ritual and ceremony in remembrance of the Pendle Witches.

Lancaster Art Fair

This first Lancaster Art Fair was conceived to be a celebration of Art in Lancaster. We called upon a selection of independent artists to take part, regardless of experience, subject matter or media. First time exhibitors were strongly encouraged and many of our professional artists have taken the opportunity and theme ‘fledgling’ to try something new or explore the unknown…

LAF is intended to be a fun, interactive event for the people of Lancaster, where our community can come together, connect with each other and create! We want to make a vibrant, inclusive and exciting cultural event that can grow year on year, supporting local artists and creators right here in Lancaster.

Please come down and check us out, see the work from our 16 brilliant artists, shop, create, chat and take part by adding to our art pin up wall!

21st-27th July 2023 (closed Sunday) upstairs at the Storey Gallery on Meeting House Lane and it’s Free Entry!

 FREE ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:

Creation Station and Doodle Tables with charcoal, collage, pastels, pencils, pens, paper and more. Images of Lancaster competition, art pin up wall, art challenges, free creative fun!

 WORKSHOPS IN THE PIPELINE:

Smartphone Photography with Ginny, Printing with Julie, Stampcity Postcards and Greeting cards with Hannah, Make a badge with Al.

 SHOWCASING:

Alice Evans, Sharon Grimes, Grace Owen, Jade Long, Al Avarez, Salem Folkmane, Karina Folkmane, Woo O’Hara, Julie Evans, Corinna Milroy, Holly Arnfield, Andy Mercer, Sophia Lima, Colette Bain, Ginny Koppenhol and Hannah Corbett.

‘This event grew organically, snowballing from a little idea – reaching out to a few fellow artists to see if anyone would be interested in doing a group exhibition – to a much bigger idea of creating the kind of event I felt Lancaster had been missing – something fun for all ages to get involved with and a place to shout about some of the great artists we have in the area.’

Summer Solstice Celebration

The Summer Solstice is a time for celebration! Often referred to as Midsummer, the summer solstice has had a firm place amongst most cultures and religions.

A time to celebrate the longest day and the gifts that mother nature blesses us with. Following this Solstice, the days get shorter, the nights longer. Fire is used symbolically throughout summer solstice celebrations in praise of the sun, to bring luck and to ward off the darkness.

So, join us around the campfire as we sing, chant, drum and enjoy a sound bath then meditate into the night with an informal ceremony at 04:43 am on the 21 June as the sun rises on the Longest day of the Year.

Supper of Hot Pot or Vegan Option with Beetroot; red cabbage; pickled onions; peas is included in the price.
